DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Well Whittey, now that you gots yurself a 1100...everybody's gonna tell you......you gotta grow 'em.

(Sitting straight up behind the fairing)
220kph/135mph and pulling hard :) Then traffic :(

how fast?

how fast?

I once reached 128mph on my 1977 GS 750B...shure fast enough on that bike 8)

All I know is my speedo ends @85 and thats around 5500 to 6000 RPMs in 5th gear. I've been up to 8000 (and a hair more) in 5th.

I am not immortal. I got up to 85mph while passing. I like to see the world, not the world see me (on the news). Speed is not what it is about for me. Sorry.

Darn old 85mph speedometer! :( I don't want to hurt the innards of the speedo so I have not pegged the needle as yet. But! I have hit about 75 in second gear going for long high reving shifts!!! 8) I know I could go much faster and that's good enough for me!
GY

75/80 in 2nd gear? that sounds nuts. I think my bike would blow up. Granted its smaller(850G) but regardless. I think 55/60 in second on my bike might spell engine failure...

just got it and would like to keep it alive for at least one season

too fast for John Law's likin!!

too fast for John Law's likin!!

OK, is this a pissin contest?! so be it... when I punch my GS1100G hard in 2nd and wind it to about 7,500 thru the top of 3rd I'm doing about 85 when I shift into 4th... and it don't seem to take but about 5 seconds to go from 25 to 85. that's about as fast as this idiot wants to go in a 55 mph zone. I'm too old to pull many more "watch this's!" Dave

Well I gotto post it
bury'd needle at 140mph but just a bit more, still had throtle left, the airspeed's the stopper, feet on the rears, butt on the passenger seat and my chin on the gas cap. wow
83 GS650GD 12k on her

135 on my 83 GS750E. All stock. Still had thottle left. Was amazed at how well she handled at that speed. No shake or anything. I just had to do it.

I managed 65MPH in first gear on my old H*nda CBR600 on a regular basis. But my EF only likes about 40.

im with Robert on this post, 5500 rpm at 85, got her up to 8000...so what about 110mph?
no fairing sittin somewhat straight up (feet on front pegs)
basically fast enough for me 8)
Jus850

I don't know what the top end is on my GS but I had my Cushman up to 60 MPH once in second gear 8O (it only has two gears)

Flat-out

Flat-out

Well, I had the needle up around the 150 mark on my 1150 and the scarry part was it still seemed pretty smooth. Unlike Hank I did it when no one was around.

Old bikes, just how fast are they?

I have some tickets from the strip clocking me at 145 or so on multiple runs with my old 83 drag bike. So that's 0 to 145 mph in 1/4 mile. The stock 83 I have will run 100 all day long on an 1/8 mile. See my dickey site for the proof. Opps, it's got some larger jets, k&n filters and a pipe so it's not really stock. I think I was running around 110 on a full 1/4 with it. Top end on the stocker is aroung that 110 mark if I lay down. Sitting up and the speed rolls off fast. Keep in mind I weigh in at around 210lbs or so. Makes a BIG difference on these old low power jobs.

I drive 55 on my HD all the time. It's old too, so I had to throw it in there.
I think I had it up to 70 once or twice.

OK, you are all under arrest for flagrent violation of speed laws.

:D How fast? Made 200km/h once too damn fast for me. Now How fast does it corner? The guys I ride with, Goldwings, Concours, Harlys etc are too slow in the twisties I am always waiting for them to catch me up. Now that's the speed that counts!
:D :D :D

Colin, I agree that it's the twisties that separate the men (and women) from the.....................................road rash!

Can't touch me on my admission! I have already been caught, seen the Magistrate and have been found guilty and punished accordingly by the Queens rules!
