A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

How loud is a Marshall Deeptone Competition 4-1 systemgoing to be for street usage???

Way too loud, or just a little bit too loud?

Is switching baffles or something to make it quiet going to work very well?

I you tubed the Marshall deep tone....There were about 6 or 7 video/ sound clips.
They were mostly all at idle, nobody really revved it up much. The only bike it had a nice deep growl on was the 16v 750 ES. There was a mid 80's Kaw 550 that had a nice deep sound too.
The other videos, the exhaust sounded a bit annoying. Sort of tinny and monotone.
Compared to my 1100E with the vintage Kerker 4-1 (which is a really loud exhaust baffled or not) the Marshall seems a lot milder.
I think on a 650 or under it won't be too loud.
IMO the problem with 4-1 exhausts is the constant loud sound when you are riding at highway speeds. At 4500 rpm's and up for long periods of time I get tired of hearing the higher pitched exhaust noise.
I love the performance sound of 4-1 for ripping it around the back roads and cranking it around town doing some sport riding.....but not for easy Sunday cruising or taking hour plus highway rides.
I would you tube it Tom and see what you think.

I should have said the other option is the Kerker 4-1 that's been on it for years. A little louder than a stock muffler, but it's made for the street, I'm OK with that noise level.
This Marshall I'm looking at is a competition pipe, I'm thinking that could be a lot louder than their street legal pipes?
Hhog, is the one on your 750 the competition one or the street legal one?
And do you like it otherwise?

I wasn't aware that they made a noisier competition version - I don't think we could get anything other than the road legal one.

My 750 came with it on - I wouldn't have chosen to fit one myself as the shape of the silencer doesn't do it for me. Quality though is pretty good.

OK, NEVERMIND. Looking at the pictures again, this pipe says 550/650. If it fits in a 550 head it has the same tiny tube ends as the one I have now.
