A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

How rare is a gs700es?

prichmon

Forum Mentor
Is a gs700es rare and valuable enough to save even if it needs a engine rebuild?

What is the thoughts of value on one with a broken timing chain? At least 1 broken rocker.

Are the 700es' common enough to not be missed if a couple are parted?

What interchanges between gs700 and 750 4 valves? Do all the bank and performance parts work?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Rich

Not rare. Most parts between 700 and 750 are the same.

Yeah if the Engine needs rebuild just swap in a 750 motor.
They are fairly common and I see them pop up for sale quite often here in the NE

They bring up bad memories for me...a president who sought to protect Harley Davidson by putting a tariff on foreign bikes bigger than 700cc. Help! I'm getting sucked into the Vortex!

Only the '83 750 E and ES are the same style of engine. If my memory serves me right, i think the only differences internally are the connecting rods are shorter in the 700. There were very few performance parts ever produced for these.

Not many of the old suzukis are valuable
it was a USA only model, (nice body work though)
parts bike

shorter connecting rods? I don't think so, that would only lower the compression ratio
I think the only difference from the 750 is the crankshaft. (to shorten the stroke.)

On the other hand, outside the US it's rare and slightly collectible.
Not to the point of being valuable you understand....

There is one near Pittsburgh that has gone on an off craigslist for about two years. Nice white paint. With a broken timing chain, I suspect it probably needs some valves too. Last I looked at least one of the "fiche sites" did not offer the exhaust valves. Considered offering the guy $300, verse the $1,000 he was asking and then decided not to bother.

Cheers, Alan
