    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

How to figure out what tires I need....

Hey guys, I have a 1982 GS650L and it desperately needs tires. So far I read off the tire and the front says

25/19/54h

while the rear says

130/90/16-67

The front tire size seems wrong although that's what it says. Is there some way to calculate a recent size? And can someone recommend tires for me? I'm looking for something like a 150/60/19 type size to use.

im having tire issues for this darn 450L of mine as well,lol. Seems i can find the tires altho not the same brand or matching set, different tread pattern or they can get me the front but not the rear etc etc. Im really having a way to go of it rite now. Pac-Man, you can probably just run the 130 tire, the 120/130 is just the width of the tire, and 120 vs. 130 shouldn't matter.

No, his bike has a 2.15" wide rear wheel. A 130 is way too wide for that rim.
 
another one bites the dust! i been trying to find tires to buy for a week now, cant find a farkin matching set!!
 
Thought I'd give everyone an update if people search. Ended up ordering the Pirelli Sport Demons

F: 100/90/19
R: 130/90/16

Total shipped was around $220 (shipping was only ~$10 which is awesome from CA to NJ)

They got awesome reviews so we'll see. I'll update when I get them on.

Question, do most guys just mount the tires themselves on here? Not sure if I need any type of things to apply to the tires to make them seal better?
 
Pac-man: check out www.denniskirk.com for tires as well. You can open a second window on your browser......search for a front tire in one and the rear in another. And with a 2.15" wide wheel, even a 120/90 tire is right on the edge. A 110/90-16 would probably fit better if you could find it.

I'm pretty lucky as there is a bike shop near me that sells tires for only a few dollars more than online prices, and if you buy your tires there they mount/balance them for free. But I found these pages on some guy's website.

There's plenty of people with 650's, running 120's and 130's.
Just for your information.....

I had no problems finding tires in those sizes....maybe that's why so many people are using them.

Thanks Bass! Took me about 45 min to get both off because I like putting every bolt and nut in order. Here she sits!
