    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

how to reach clamp on fuel hose on the fuel rail

put her back together, ive had the tank off for a while, emptied old fuel out, new fuel in, then i had to trim a little of end of fuel hose to go onto petcock as i wangled that around i could feel and see the fuel hose where it connects to the rail connection is loose and spins around. i fired her up for first time in a while and after a bit there was bit of petrol coming from that area, How do i reach that end of the hose to tighten that clamp ?, with out removing the air box ?, there's very little room there and the hose spins on the pipe quite easily now i've been working on it. i put a new petcock on it and ran it before no fuel leaks then, only now i've been wrestling with it and had to shorten hose a tad,the main fuel line is 5/16 or 8mm ?, thanks clancey.
 
OEM fuel line is 7mm, and stretchy. Nothing like automotive fuel line.
 
I agree. Use the stock 7 mm fuel line, you don't even need any clamps. :D
I have 5 GSes here, absolutely NONE of them has a clamp on the fuel line. :cool:
But, to answer your question properly, it would help a bit to know what bike we are discussing.

One option would be to remove the carbs or the airbox, whichever is easier, so you can gain access to the clamp.

Clancey, I agree with the other two. Use 7mm fuel line. I buy my 7mm fuel line from Mick's Motors in Brisbane, vee dub dealer. Here is the info if you need it. You'll wonder why you used 5/16" fuel line after you've used 7mm for the first time.

OK thanks every one, ill get some of that 7mm hose, the old hose was 8mm and is hardened and it had a extra in line plastic tap to turn fuel off and on, that i removed. bike is 1984 gs1100g. no clamp i like that idea :) that makes life easier, there was such a big clamp on that hose connecting to petcock tube when i got it there's a gouge out of top of carby body from it :(. working up the coast atm, get back to her in day or so.regards clancey.
 
ok installed 7mm fuel line, wow :) no leaks and its sweet as. thanks again. a few pics of how i installed line onto fuel rail :) save taking out air box taking tape off was fun ( next time tape up and down screw driver handle to peel off easly .leave 20mm hose and tape large screw driver to hose and push on with small wiggles, easy as.
