A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

How to ruin a perfectly good stock frame

Yeah I'm still not thrilled about the gs450's not having a kickstart when they come stock with a perm. magnet alternator. It would be nice to be able to lose the battery and run kick only with a capacitor. So for the other motor I may track down a gs400/425 bottom end since they came stock with a kickstand and then run the gs500 jugs bored to whatever I feel adequate and the gs450 head...

As for the car, here's a better pic of how it sits mocked up right now:

Made some simple bars and got some more mockup pics:

I will probably make some pull backs after I get it on the road. Still trying to decide if it would be better with no sissy, short sissy, or ridiculously tall just barely fits in the garage sissy bar... What do you guys think?

Well, seeing as it's definitely getting a bit of Peter Fonda goes to Japan happening, I think you have to do the big sissy :D

I don't know how you can ride with those 'bars, but that's obviously just my personal preference. I sat on some sort of HD once that had really narrow 'bars like that and it just felt wrong... however if it works for you and you like 'em, then go to it! ;)

Lovin' the car by the way, and I noticed you have the rear wheel of the other 450 in the background too... problems?

Peter Fonda goes to Japan :D

The bars are narrow, but I'm used to it and they are actually really comfortable.

The ignition finally crapped out on the other 450...which is the reason I'm back working on the chopper. Just figured I'd take that as a sign that I need to get back on a chopper haha. I'll be running the wheels and carbs from the other bike to start with so I'll only have one running bike here in the next week or so when this one hits the road...

Cool, as long as you're comfortable that's all that matters ;)

I see said the blind man... so is it HEI time or you gonna leave it for a bit? I've still got stuff going on for the HEI setup but it's taking a while. The Dynatek does seem to work well though, but of course there are some $$$ involved in that one...

Oh, and I forgot to mention earlier I'd love to go to Barber too...

I'll work on the HEI stuff as soon as I get all the other stuff mounted up here and there and get ready to make it run.

As for Barber, just fly on over and I'm sure we can accomodate your stay :)

Cool, I'm focussing on finishing mine at the moment, but I do want to finish off the HEI stuff as well. They Dynatek will let me finish and get riding though :D

Sure when's Barber? Hahaha... yeah I wish...

Got a few little things knocked out this evening...

Made a crossmember for the seat stays and one of the fender mounts

Still kinda waiting on the sissy bar until I get some material and a gameplan

Then stared for a while and figured out the best way to hide the coils... Stuff them under the tank!

Haven't mounted the tank yet, but it slides right over the coils into position

Step back and take another look

Definitely taking shape :)

I thought the game plan for the sissy bar was big? ;)

Ha well I'm not sure a tall sissy bar would hold up too well on my daily commute... It would be like a large tuning fork back there haha

so $300 and it replaces the signal generator AND ignition module and comes with new coils? hmmm

Ah ha! This is the one Pete was telling me about. Good work man! Hopefully you make it to Barbers. If so, I'll see you there!

Actually the wires are extra, but they're good silicon wires :)

Yep this is it Rich! You should see his tracker/scrambler/bobber thing too... did you decide what it is yet MLC?
