    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

How to tell what jet you have?

Hey, ive started to take down my carbs, but am having trouble taking the main plate off, so i looked at the jets instead, and im trying to figure out my main jet. My pilot jet says 15, which is stock for a 79 gs750 but i cant figure out my main. Where does it say it? on the front it seems to say 1025 but that doesn't make any sense?

Sure it makes sense, it's 102.5 main jet - standard.
 
oh, your right, i thought it said 100 is standard for the main, oops.
 
The '77-'79 750's were all over the shop with main jets - the manuals all say different! It's likely your 102.5 are stock.
 
without starting a new thread, taking apart the carbs, im trying to take the main plate off so i can separate the main bodies. But, the plate cant come off because of the main throttle rod(?). Any tips? Ive been trying to follow basscliff's tut but i cant seem to get past the measly first step. Thanks! Where can i order bigger jets? Should the ones on Z1 for the Large round mikuni carb work for the VM?

Take the tops off the carbs and remove the bolts (1 each) holding the slide assembly to the rod. There's another bolt through the rod at the cable linkage. Lastly there is a lock screw on the rod between two of the carbs. Remove that and slide the rod out.

Thanks! I was thinking that was what i needed to do, just wasn't sure and didn't want to mess anything up.
