DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

The original owner of my bike gave me some cool stuff! He gave me a fork tool bag, front windshield with fairing, and some sort of stereo mount. He olso told me that they had lowered the forks and shocks because they had short legs.He said there were adjustments to raise them back up.
My questions are.
1:I need a link or instruction manual for mounting fairing.
2:I need the same for the radio holder.(It's a black plastic box that holds a radio and has two speakers in it.Looks like it mounts to the handle bars with the slip in style rods that go through u clamps.Kind of like the windshield but it has other braces that i dont have a clue where they go.)
3:I seen the rear shocks have an adjustment on the bottom. Is this all i need to use to raise them back up?Do I just raise the forks at the triple tree? Also the front shocks seem a little soft and the front end drops a little too much when I use the front brake. How do I adjust the the firmness?
I took the bike for my first long ride yesterday.Me and the guy that I got it from rode about 300 miles round trip.I couldn't believe how well this old bike did.It couldn't keep up with his big 1800 honda vtwin but it was still a total shocker for me that it did so well.I rode the first part of the trip with a full face helmet that the whole face flips up on.On the way back I rode without it.I thought I would feel safer with it but it really seemed heavy. It also doesn't help my visability.I'm blind in my right eye and have to turn my head to see my right mirror. With the helmet on it makes it a tough job to turn and look at the mirror because of the wind.I hope mounting the windshield will help with this problem.I would like to wear a helmet.
I can't wait to give it a new paint job and get it all slicked up this winter.I am a Gs fan for sure now :D

Sorry about that.I thought I had it in my signature  My sig isn't showing up for some reason.

Now it is.

Keep wearing the helmet, after you get used to it, you won't feel comfortable without it. The law makers in Ky. think most people there, are smart enough to wear helmets, thus not a Ky. law. and they really don't care about the ones who aren't smart enough.

Sounds like you're really not going to be happy with the fairing mounted till you stiffen the front end, if it's been lowered in the triple trees you can raise it back up (only if it's already been lowered, you'll know because it will be hitting the handlebar), you can use pieces of conduit or PVC pipes cut to about 2-3"long to preload the front springs and raise it some,or replace them(Fr-springs) and preload them, change the fork oil also for better damping, the collar on the bottom of the rear shock is probably the only adjustment there is for the rear. As for the fairing, without knowing a brand name it's kind of tough!

Thanks for the pointers.
The forks are hitting the bottom of the handlebar so I should be good there.
I think I figured out the fairing. All it has are the two round bars that connect to the handlebar by u clamp things and two screws that connect it to the forks.
The radio box on the other hand is a mystery.I can tell it hooks to the bars like the fairing but i can't see how in the world it will mount without either blocking the gas cap or the gauges. There are a bunch of other braces with it also.I've tried to find some pics of this kind of thing (dash maybe?)to see how it showed it installed on the bike.If I had a picture I could figure out about where the braces go.If anyone has seen anything like this or can give me a link to a pic that would be great.

good looking ride. I want a seat back like that, anyone got one for sale(cheep  )
