A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I thought I had tubeless? I took the wheel to dealer to check on valve stems..the guy says looks like a tube inside, breaks the beads and sure enough, he says there's a tube and I should plan on new tubes when my new tires get mounted..WTF! 79'gs850 with mag wheels..

it should be stamped on the wheel "tubeless tire applicable". if it is then you dont need tubes, unless you have tubed only tires fitted!

Hmm the alpha-sports fiche shows tubes soooooo I guess its tubes for you.

Tubeless wheels didn't come in till about 82 or 83 pretty much everythinng before that was tubed.

guess I'll just run tubes? no harm with the Shinko 230's right?

There's lots written on here about this topic. In the end it really does come down to a choice. To tube or not to tube....From personal experience from my own 79 850, I seem to remember the front had a tube and the rear didn't, go figure.

Just checked the rims on my bike and neither of them say tubeless, checked the owners manual and it doesn't say anything about using tubes in the tires. I don't recall if the original tires having tubes when I replaced them. I've since been running Dunlop tubeless tires with out any problems what so ever.

Hmm, just checked two spare rims (same as the ones on the bike) I have and neither one says tubeless as well, but, one still has a tire on when I bought it and there is a tube in it. Thoughts?

Picked up my wheel today:) had them put in new tube too. They said they spin balanced it and it required no weight? I thought these inexpensive Shinkos needed more weight than others? Oh well, it's done and I have a good spare tube for whatever...:D I'll get the rear done this week once I receive my new rear shinko in transit.

Check the parts fiche for your particular year and model.

Picked up my wheel/tire today and sure felt safer on a short ride tonight! Think I'll try the rear when the tire is delivered

Part fiche says tube for sure, though been running tubeless for the last 28 years. No problems. Then again I'm not that hard of rider either.

I've got tubeless tires on both my bikes, a '79 and a '82, and I've got tubes installed.
I once had a blow-out at 70mph on a Honda 450 with a passenger, I really thought that was it for me, I don't want to take any unecessary chances after that.
