A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I just got some slingshot 38's?

The36's are available; Chef1366 has a source
I think 38 slides are the same but don't quote me.
Chef1366 has set-up 2 sets of slingshots for me and both have turned out great. The wear points that Posplayr mentions have to be addressed as EVERY set I have seen has been wore out. Not sure about the spacing on a 2 valve motor though. I do know the spacing on a 2v 1100 is the same as a 4v 1100 as the carb bodies are the same with different internals. Slingshots work fantastic on a 4v motor.

If you get a DJ kit for those, they will come with new emulsion tubes... like everyone else has already mentioned, they are the first things that wear out and they will make the carbs run rich and impossible to tune. However, I'll bet any DJ kit you get would be waaaaay off for your needs as they are designed for bikes with more cc's that turn 10,000+ and make 140+ hp . Also, don't try to mix and match the DJ tubes with the factory needles as they are usually set up with a different internal diameter to match up with their needles. I think Factory Pro sells the emulsion tubes separately and they are factory diameter.

The 36mm Slingshots work very well on my mostly stock 1100... the throttle response is much better than the stock carbs, but I spent a bunch of time with the wideband o2 meter to get it set up right.

I am in process right now of redoing the top end of my 78 Gs1000"Roadkill"
I have a set of 1100 cylinders (stock bore 8000 mile block) , installing new rings ,
Yousimura cam set ( don't remember the lift)
83 GK d port head with new valves ,seats , and guides , springs
and a set of CV 36 mm carbs from stock 1150.
Going to try and use stock type air box but if I can' t I will be designing something that will work and let it breath.
I love having access to a dyno to help figure these things out
The exhaust is a custom free flowing 2 into 2 2"" exhaust. Not sure how all this is going to play out but I will be able to tell you when it is done

that exhaust

Arent X pipes a gimmick? And those 2 into 2, you mean a muffler exiting each side? They sound like there running on 3 cylinders if you havent a cross over tube. Or you mean 4 into 2 into 1 setup? Im playing around with Cad atm trying to see what pipes i can make. Most of that is from memory. Need to measure more to set up the height and length better.

Not sure how to post an old thread on here, but you can search "roadkill' in the search bar and then look for thread ' It has begun' that is my Roadkill build thread, it will show you the exhaust

Would 36 sling shots offer better performance than the 1150 36 mm?
The slingshot carbs are updated but the air screws are under the barrel, I have a hard time adjusting them with engine running. The GS carbs have the air screws on top of the barrel and are easier to adjust.
