A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

i just made THE mistake

I was being a good boy following Bikecliff's VM carb dip process,
making sure everything was clean and with new o-rings.
On my 3rd carb I was rebuilding, I went to screw in the pilot
fuel screw and I felt it start to get a little tighter as I turned it in.
I was like, alright, just a little bit..... hmm. it didn't feel good.
I unscrewed it and sure enough the tip of the needle was broken
off. I saw the needle sticking out of the carb body on the inside,
so I tapped it out thank God, but now I need a new needle.
So my question is, where can I get a GOOD factory pilot fuel needle?

You may want to post a request in the parts wanted section. Perhaps someone has an extra one lying around. If you find that the screw is hard to find, you many want to think about picking up a set of carbs to use for parts. My bike uses the BS32 carbs and I own 2 extra racks of carbs in case I need parts.

I have some spare needles from my rebuild. PM me your details, and I will drop one in the mail.

You have extras?!?! those are so hard to find without the K&L rebuild kit...

When I did something similar, I resharpened the screw, probably ot perfect but I cant tell if it worked until I get the bike running!

I used the K&L kits but swapped the o-rings with better rubber from bwringer.

I still have my old jets though, because several posters suggested that the K&L brass was crappy. My original jets were pretty grimy, but they were not broken. I am happy to send the OP one of the old jets (probably just need a better cleaning, definitely need a new o-ring) or one of the leftover K&L jets (can't recall if I swapped all four).

I also picked up a spare rack of carbs off eBay for $9.99 (+$10 S&H). They were being sold for parts, so I am not sure of their condition. Pretty sure I can salvage $20 worth of parts from them though.

In short, I am a giver. ;)
