A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Ah, thanks for the warning! Since I have never used the switch, that explains why I haven't had a close encounter of the deer kind  Thank God you told me, I have a Vetter fairing on my bike now, would not want to go back to eBay for another one...

Hmmm, seems you got the James Bond version of the GS...

Deer Kill Switch, on the left the Harley On Road Nuke switch, Looks I Got Him Too Switch and your speedometer says Must Push Harder.....
Is there a switch that spreads oil on the road if you are pursued?

What's your name? Poke.... SlowPoke....

Hmmmm Scotty, I never tried catching a fly with chopsticks.
I usually stretch a rubberband across and opened bobby pin and
shoot them down with lit matches. I just kinda have a soft spot in
my heart for fireflies. :-)

I have only used the kill switch once, and it WAS a emergency, when the throttle stuck open and it crossed up and high sided me off, it was all I could do to drag myself over and hit that switch before the engine grenaded.

Kill switch? What's that? I use the key to shut off the bike. Kill switches are for dirt bikes. It's just one more unnecessary thing to cause problems. 8)

Hey NUT  8O
I cant believe your name is nut but any how if you were not just joking is it possible that where you live, the standard motorcycles are not blessed with the kill switch. They are truly a pain--once when my brother was bringin his monster kz1300 dresser home for the first time, he put the throttlr lock on and accidently hit the kill switch with his oversized mits and we at first thought the whole electric system had died- I did somehing similar in my garage last week. BTW i have 2 kill switches on my bike--one is just a momentary button. :)

I had been using the kill switch to turn off my bike, but I think I'll use the key now. Is there any reason not to just leave the switch in the 'run' position when the bike is parked? it seems to defeat the purpose if i shut the bike down w/ the key and then flick the switch anyway....

just wondering

I believe that the kill switch is just an emergency feature that was mandated by some senator whose favorite pastime was knitting--But it is a good emergency tool in the event your throttle is stuck open etc--most of us never use it except to see if it functiones --and i will go so far as to say that most of us always leave the thing in the on position
