A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ok I could b worried over nothing but i just wanted to try to find some answers. So my 83 750e has a 4-1 yoshi exhaust and stock filter, and i am not sure about the jetting at this point, (this is my guess to the solution to the problem). Anyways the bike idles fine and drive with a good power curve no stumble no real sudden jerks, but when i am deaccelerating over 4k the bike likes to let up some popping noise, not too loud but obviously enough to cause me some concern. So question lies here is it

a) the pipe i have on just has that effect
b) I am running to rich/lean
c) Another problem possibly paired with one of the above.

Like I said I tried the Search feature but most the searchs came up with back rather than back firing.

Thank you in advance for your help

well, the pipe your using with stock airbox and stock carb settings is going to lean out the bike just a bit....

the popping on decel is from a lean condition...

the best thing to do is move the needles one half or one full position richer and see if it stops..

lean makes more power, but is bad for your engine, it will run hotter and can lead to holing pistons if it gets too hot... this is the extreme of that effect though..

your stock jets may be ok with this pipe, it just depends on if you can richen it up a little bit with the stock needles...

Hi Mr. ohgoodtimes,

I found this thread using the advanced search feature, searching only the Tech section for "popping" + "decelaration".

http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=125441

There are 42 other results when searching for those terms together in the Tech section.

Basically, you may be a little lean. Perhaps a slight adjustment in your mixture screws or taking care of any air leaks in the intake system, such as sealing up your airbox, may be all that's necessary. Keep us informed.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

aw, i see how the search works, i was using the "" to try to be more specific, but i will enter words seperately. And i will go through and try to rihen things up thing you very much you guys

i would seal up the airbox first, thats probably gonna help a lot if it has leaks at all....

Come out on the idle mixture screws. (richen) If four turns our and still popping go up one on the pilot jet.
And seal airbox.
