A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Here's something that happened over the weekend.
I'm sure many of you could relate to.

Saturday morning, beautiful, mild temp, sunny, a bit windy.
I'm on the parkway (eastbound), left lane, doin 65+. Very light traffic. Scanning, checkin for smokey, etc. Havin a blast

Lookin ahead, I see westbound traffic movin at a good clip as well.
I also spot a car with some tied-down sheetrock on the roof, in his left lane goin westbound.

Sure as heck, a wind blast caught the sheetrock, it split in half, and before I could say "Oh Sh!t" I'm lookin at a sizeable chunk of wallboard flyin over the divide about 100 feet in front of me. All I had time for was "BRACE FOR IMPACT mode !!!!

I ducked, tucked behind my shield, firmed up the bars, throttled down and kept an eye on the flyin object's trajectory.

Swwhooossshhh !!! I passed it in less than two seconds. The board's momentum kept it flyin to my right and into the center lane , where it landed. Whhhowwww !! Way, way, way too close.
For about 5 seconds after that, I must've recited about 16 "Our Father". Thank you, thank you. Oh!!! Thank you !!!:p

I remember my safety instructor saying something like " if you're going to collide with an animal, you're better off going straight at it and not try to avoid it" Most times, flying objects will pass and miss you. But if you panic and try to avert it, you may make things worse.

If I had tried to dodge it, and swung into the center lane, I surely would've had an encounter of the worst kind.

Just something for you all to keep in mind.

Continued my "pleasant" ride...

Glad it missed you and thank you for sharing.
It is good to be reminded of things like this especially at the beginning of a new season.

Stay sharp people and ride safely.

Glad you are ok! Usually don't have the issue of things falling off vehicles here. Just the weekly avoidance of dogs, cats, deer and possums lol.

WOW...scary stuff. Glad you kept your wits...Be safe and always on the lookout.
