A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I'm not going to attempt the purchase of the 1978 GS1000 with reported low miles.

I decided that I wanted a bike that was road ready so the potential low low mileage 1978 GS1000 is available. If anybody wants info let me know. These guys are tough to get in touch with and not very knowledgeable. They live in a tiny town in Central Oregon in the middle of the mountains.

Here is some of what I know. The sellers older brother died and he acquired the bike from the estate. The seller sounds old and he knows nothing about bikes and I never actually spoke with him directly. The seller has two other guys helping him sell and neither one of them know a heck of a lot about bikes. The bike was supposedly ridden to its current location in the last year, but they could not get it started before I was to depart. It is supposed to have 1663 miles.

I have contact names, numbers and some pics if anyone in interested.

curious if the seller mentioned an asking price, the bike looks very original including exhausts.
If the bike cleans up nicely this might be museum/collectors material.

Yes. It's on craigslist, no pic and horrible add, sellers are not computer or cell phone savvy.
I'm apt to lean towards this being legit and I was very interested but 14 hour drive, etc...
He was asking $3500 and I asked if he'd take $3000 and he said yes.

doesn't know a signal thing about motorbikes but DOES know he wants top dollar for a non running bike???? Very smart decision on your part I would say.

$3K for a non-runner? Good luck with that! He must adhere to the P T Barnum theory regarding suckers.

yeah, this bike got posted up for some weeks last fall
Looks pretty nice
