    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi there boys and girls how we doing ?<br>
Firstly let me say it was some what of a relief finding this site i really do hope that someone out there can help me ? I am a newbie here so please be gentle with me...lol.<br>
I would like to find out some info about my custom built 1979 GS850G trike that i am riding at the moment if at all possible ?...Anyway here goes i have been told/heard and read online that it is possible to transplant a GS1000G top end straight onto the GS850G bottom end is this true ? as some say yes and some say no....which is right as its a little confusing and i dont know which to believe as to be totally honest with you this is the first time i have ever owned a GS in my 30yrs+ of riding bikes/trikes so i have no idea at all. <br>
I would also welcome any tuning tips for the GS (even big bore kits if you can still get them ?)...i have all ready re-jetted the carbs myself as when i bought it i had the plugs out and she was running lean this was due to the fact the guy who built her didnt do any sort of engine work on her apart from shove filters on her and go too the expense of having a one off 4 into 1 under seat exhaust system built which made me laugh really as he had spent money on her by putting a GSXR11 front end in that was widened via billet and spacers (which handles really well actually) he had also built the back end (trike conversion) from scratch even going to the trouble of routing all the wiring inside the mudguard stanchions that have inbuilt led brake/indicators lights. <br>
Anyway i will leave it at that and sit here with my fingers crossed hoping that someone somewhere out there can help or at least guide me towards solving what i have asked.<br>

If it was true, everybody here with an 850 would have done it.
Not true, more's the pity, and whoever told you was just repeating BS or wishful thinking. It's a piece of BS / w.t. that every GS850 owner has/had at one time or other.
Otoh, the straight transplant of a GS1000G lump into an 850 frame is accomplished without fuss or drama.
 
Nice1 cheers for that fella at last i can put it to bed...i guess it must be one of those biking myth's or just a sick wind up to get peoples hopes up ? and yes someone will be getting a slap and told "To give his head a shake" for telling me a load of BS the txxt wait till i see him...Its a good job i have also been looking for a GS1000G lump then ? in fact i think i have found a donor bike ? Here's hoping and thanks again.

It's one of these ideas that seems like it should work, after all, there are plenty of other similar swaps that work fine. Not this one, though. Curses.
The problem was that Suz started with the base of the 750 and created the 850 out of it, and that was the end of the upward path for that. Now, if history had been slightly different, and they'd already got the 1000, they might more likely have de-sleeved the 1000 to make an 850 and you, me, and thousands of others would have been laughing our socks off at the easy upgrade.
