    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Inserting Airbox into 450

I'm at my wits end!!! My hands are all cut up and **it from trying to do this. I don't have a service manual or anything of the sort and my bike is damn near in pieces from trying to do this. How the F' do I get this damn thing into my bike? If I have to take off my rear wheel, how do I do this on a shaftie?
 
I looked through your pics. I'm guessing you have the airbox in now too.
An essential element to getting the carbs in is new squishy, flexible rubber boots on both the airbox and, in your case, the intake boots.

You can also detach the airbox and move it backwards as far as possible to help some. Try inserting them from the right side of the bike. Honestly, it's a matter of jamming and cramming them in there. With new rubber boots it makes it easier.

Don't forget to attach the vacumn and fuel lines first. Good Luck.:)

EDIT:: I'm sorry, I must be tired....I thought you were trying to put in the carbs. FWIW, I had a difficult time getting my airbox in as well. I finally figured out the one and only way that they'll fit. I can now have it out in about 10 seconds. There's a way to do it, step back take a breath, you'll get it.

We can all discard this thread now. My friend the genius tetris'd the damn thing in there. Thanks again friend. Now I need to find out how to check my float height because the damn carb is still ****in fuel.
 
I realized after hacking mine apart to remove it from the bike that all I had to do was remove the carbs and it would pop right out :lol:
 
I have no idea how you had so much luck with it but mine wasn't that way. We ended up taking the braket off the left side of the bike opposite the battery bay and my friend worked his magic on it.
 
I actually split mine in two because I didn't realize I could take the carbs off and get it out. Dunno how much different it is, but mine is an '82 GS450L.
