    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

intake manifold repares

HI!

with what I can fix that rubber thing back? I used loctite blue gasket silicone but it seems not suit there. too weak. is there any stronger stuff on the market?
I add a picture of that intake manifold as well.

Trying to repair rotten rubber is a waste of time. Suzuki still sells the replacement parts you need. Here's the part numbers for a 2 valve 1000/1100
13110-49100 (buy 2)
13120-49100 (buy 2)
09280-40010 (buy 4)
 
the only way to fix bad intake manifolds is to replace them and their base O-rings as humhead has already said. those numbers are for the bigger ones, from that pic is your bike a 550?

you can get them here or get the correct Suzuki numbers to get them from your local Suzuki bike dealer.

I've got some good used manifolds for a 80-82 550 if anyone is interested. The only thing that can be done is replace the old parts - glue does not last.

The leaky mainfolds are likely the cause of the bad running issue you posted before.

Put the new mainfolds and O rings on without any sealer, synch your carbs and let us know how it runs.

Shoe goo works awesome for sealing those intake boots. Just a thin coating. When it dries it is still somewhat pliable. It worked for me.
 
Hmm... Shoe Goo is gas resistant? Nice. I'm always using that stuff.
 
Becareful getting the intake retaining screws out to replace the inlet rubbers. Its unlikely that anybody has had them out since the bike was built. Don't want to be replying to a broken screw post in a few days......
