    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Interesting Valve Adjustment Clearances

Did my first valve check on my daily rider 80" 850G. I have done several GS valve adjustments before but found these to be noteworthy.

3 out of 4 exhaust valves were out of spec. All 3 were LOOSE and between .11 and .14 mm

Only one intake was out of spec .11 mm, again LOOSE

This is the first time I have done a GS 8 valve adjustment and found any to be loose. I found it to be interesting and worth noting

Excellent question. The PO was an auto mechanic and he owned the bike for 3-4 years, owner before that was original owner and kept the bike up nicely from all accounts and apparently had it gone through at 40,000 with big bore kit. I can't substantiate any of this however as the PO was not able to find the receipts but he did have them at one time (or so he says). Hard to say if the PO ever did a valve adjustment. Bike had been well cared for is about all I really know and it took me about 30 minutes to put it on the road after sitting for two years. Has ran beautifully & reliably ever since
 
believe nothing the PO says especially when it comes to performance works unless they can prove it 100%.
everything is ported and polished/bored and stroked ect....
heard it my entire life and 99% of the time it was untrue..
 
Did you adjust them using the Suzuki cam positioning procedure or with the lobe pointing away from the bucket?
 
Most likely the previous guy used the wrong spec and made them all too big.
