    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello GS forum, Thank you for allowing me to join and I'm glad your here. As stated, I just joined, I live in Michigan and enjoy working on older motorcycles. I just recently acquired this 1982 Suzuki GS650G from the metal salvage yard down the street that my next door neighbor works at, someone brought it in for cash and my neighbor knew I worked on motorcycles and thought I could save it and so I did, I paid salvage price and saved it from being recycled. So here I go, I just recently was able to located a nice stock exhaust from a guy on Craigslist, and I just recently bought a complete set of carburetors off eBay, the ones that originally on this bike, I found number 4 carb has a broken body where the jet screws inside the float bowl, so I bought another set so I could rebuild them using number 4 carb body and hopefully get this lil beast running, I got the bike to fire with the original carbs for a few seconds which I was happy to hear. Ok , my question is, does anyone here happen to know what size the rubber o-rings on the connecting tubes that connect the carburetors together ? I realize I can purchase a complete set off eBay for $16.00, but I was wondering if I would be able to find theses at a auto part store, or TSC, or maybe ACE hardware store ? I'm sure these places would be cheaper and just as good without the wait of someone shipping these to me. Thank you in advance and look forward to learning about these GS motorcycles. :lol:
 
Welcome. As Steve said, cycle o rings is the way to go. Some hardware store o rings reportedly dont deal well with gas. A full and proper carb rebuild will save you turing and running headaches later.
 
Thank you for the quick replies guys, I'm currently in the rebuild mode right now, the carbs are completely tore down and in the washer now, all the jets , cross over tubes , etc are being cleaned. I'm going to check on the link and order them , where is this cycle oring located ? Thank you again
