Working on a deadline here at the office so I can't take time to share the whole story, but had to let someone know. I just got an email from the Iron Butt Association and my ride has been confirmed. I am now official.
I rode my '83 GS1100E from Seattle to Boise on a Monday after work (500 miles) and the next day I rode from Boise to Westcliff CO (via Salt Lake City, Moab, 4 corners, Durango, & Telluride) for an 1,163 mile day.
It ended up taking a couple hours longer than planned due to a chain that was stretching and some construction related gravel roads. I found out later that the sproket nut had worked it's way loose and was just kept from getting worse by the folded tab on the washer.
