A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just curious to see if anyone has done this before. Will the dip eat away at the paint on the 1150 carbs or has that been safely tested?

Thanks.

Those black carbs look cool when new but this is one reason to prefer natural.

All black carbs shipped to me are returned aluminum gray unless the request to be painted is made.
Wrecks havoc on my dip.

All black carbs shipped to me get returned in the same black I got them! I use an ultrasonic cleaner that cleans better, & doesn't damage paint, rubber, or plastic. Ray.

Ultrasonic might be the hot top for black carbs. I wonder wonder about the cleaning ability though.

C'mon Ray
You know they at least need repainted. They've never looked good when I recieve them. Taking the black off makes them look much better unless as I mentioned I paint them.

I have used both Ed, & the ultrasonic breaks loose stuff the dips don't release. There is also NO damage to the metals as there is no CHEMICAL to eat away at the carbs. Plus, I only have to leave them in the cleaner for 1/2 hour, 2 half hour sessions on the WORST ones I've ever had to do. Bill, if they need paint, RenoBruce is the MAN anyway! I just get a lot of sets for restorations that the paint is already really nice on & don't want to wreck it. Ray.

Just don't let them get dirty in the first place! :p

I have an ultrasonic cleaner, too. But I haven't tried it on painted carbs yet. I would think that if there are any small paint chips or peels on the carbs that the ultrasonic action might make them worse.

That's a museum piece right? Do you drive it in a bubble? Is it a bubble bike?

Ray, what kind of fluid do you use in the ultrasonic bath? Water??

Water & a formulated soap that's made for ultrasonic cleaners that won't turn the color of aluminum. Ray.
