If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Is there a trick to installing pod Filters?

Hello gang,

I've got everything set up on the bike including installing the stage 3 jet kit. I recently got my pod filters in the mail (42mm emgo) and when I went to put them on the rejetted carbs I noticed that the carb flange is the same exact size as the pod filter flange. I thought about it a while before I tried to jam one on a carb and it seems that this will have to be streched somehow to fit over the carb intake flange.

Am I right in my assumption or am I going about this the wrong way?
I suspect that a lube will have to be used as well. I just want to install these without breaking anything or tearing the pod filters.

Oh yeah, bike specs...

Carb size = :?:

If anyone needs pictures to get a visual of this let me know.
Thank you all for the help.

Damnit!! :x
This sucks. No one told me what size I'd need.

Maybe I could get a radiator hose to go between the filter and flange...

I would return the smaller filters if possible and get the correct size filters.
You can probably find some K&N's on E-bay for a good price.

Make sure of what you need. I've seen 50 and 54mm on Ebay. I think 50's are what you need though.

Crap, well thats more money wasted. I got these from ebay. i'll see if the guy will let me return these and get the 50mm ones.

Thanks,

If he has them and you cover the postage he shouldn't have a problem. All it will cost him is a little tape and taking care of getting the others shipped out.

There's some of both sizes right now on E-bay. $35 starting. Emgo or ?Under discription Suzuki GS1000. Measure yours first so you know if you need 50 or 54mm.
1"=25.4mm.

Yep, now I see that.

I'm such a dumbass. I sent the guy an email asking if i can send these back to him and get the ones I need (54mm) instead.
I'll wait and see what he has to say. If he balks I'll be posting these stupid 42mm ones on ebay myself.

Man, ebay is really eating a hole in my budget. So far I've bought one set of carbs off of there and they're the wrong ones. The guy sent me another set free and they're wrong too so now I've gotta ship em both back to him. *sigh*

Total wasted money on ratbike project so far (not including shipping items back to sellers) =$142.00

Two sets of incorrect carbs (seller error): 85.00
4-42mm pod filters: 45.00
1 set of Snap ring pliers (too small for carb work): 12.00

Put yours in the for sale section here. They'll probably fit the 26 and 29mm smoothbores on the older GS models. They won't have much trouble tuning for them either like you do for CVs.

Okay, I'll do that. I don't want any extra money for them. Just what I paid to get them.
