    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Is this carb repairable?

I was cleaning my spare set of carbs and #3 looks like this.....

The post that the float connects to was broken. Do you think this can be repaired or is this one toast?

Also, on 2 of the carbs, the jets were stuck and the screw is kind of stripped now. How can you get a stripped one out?

I had this happen on one of mine and repaired it by drilling a small hole through the post above and also below the break. I used some brass wire that I purchased at the hardware store and wrapped it through the holes several times and tied it off. It's been fine for several years now.
 
Does that camera have a macro setting?

I'd ditch that carb. Tons of GSR people have spares. If you post an ad in the Parts Wanted forum there is a very good chance someone has one they will send you.
 
It's fixable.

Drill a hole in the carb body and the broken off post a size or two down from a 1/8' drill bit. chuck a piece of 1/8" brass rod in a drill motor and file the diameter down while the rod is spinning. check the pin you are making for an interference fit every so often. when it fits properly, tap the pin into the body and the post over the pin. tweak the post as necessary.

Thanks for the reply's. I will try to repair. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting out a stripped pilot jet? I had 2 that would not come out so I left them in place while cleaning the carbs.
