A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Is This Stator Brand Any Good?

It's good (they used to sponsor the site)

Rick's may be better
Check out their web sites

Yes, I remember, but also remember something about the quality going way downhill for a time, (I believe they sold the company or something like that IIRC), and wanted to make sure it wasn't still like that.

Check out Rick's and RM stator as well (RM sells on Ebay too). Personally, I've used all three, no problems with any of them, they're all better than OEM. I'll just price all three of them and buy whichever's cheaper.

Hi,

From the "mega-welcome" on my website:

New electrical parts
http://stores.ebay.com/RMSTATOR or http://www.rmstator.com/ - Stators, r/r units, etc
http://www.ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/index.php - Stators, r/r units, etc
http://www.electrosport.com/ - Stators, r/r units, etc

The Rick's parts are generally more expensive so I haven't tried one yet. I have used RMStator and Electosport parts. Any of them will work for a good long time as long as the rest of your wiring and electrical system is well maintained (CLEAN connections and grounds).

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

RM Stator and Electrosport stators look virtually identical...so in fact they may be. Made in China I assume and sold to both companies. Based on Basscliff's iffy experience with those parts (he is too nice to lambaste them they way someone like me would;)) I think Rick's or maybe a new OE stator should get the nod if you have the funds.

A little off topic i suppose, but i find it annoying that no one offers a 12 pole stator for the older 550s and 750s? or am i just not finding it?? I dont particularly need one at the moment, but the thought of having to swap to a more modern rotor to compliment the new stator is kind of off putting.

Is the early 550 stator 12 pole? I have a spare BTW, if you happen to need one.

Well, i must say Im assuming so, as the 77-79 750 is a 12 pole. Didnt think they'd switched to the 18 pole untill they started doing away with the kicker. Gotta beef up that charging system for sure now! lol.

Eventually, I MAY need a 12 pole, but then again, I suppose at some point there will be none that work left, and I should prepare to swap it to an 18 pole...just a matter of finding a rotor that will work. I may already have one, i dunno..

So Ricks is probably the way to go? I seem to be getting mixed signs on the electrosports....

the '79 gs 850 is a 12 pole. And when i had mine apart i thought the rotor was a 4 magnet pickup but i read recently that is was more than that. Ed what are you looking to get for yours?

I spoke with a Sean at RMstator and he was very helpful explaining everything. For customer service they seemed good. Although i didn't purchase a stator from them yet so i don't know what the guarantee is like. Someone on here had to replace theirs within the 1 yr warantee and RM replaced it.

Also, does anyone know if the Ricks stator has the rubber grommet thingy on it? Mine is soft and unusable, and I understand the Electrosport doesn't come with one. My parts manual does not give a number for it to order through Suzuki.
