I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Postings to the For Sale and Wanted sections will be deleted 90 days after the initial posting date if there has been no activity to the thread in the last 7 days. This is done to eliminate dead posts from the forum.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone has one of those "awful" tall stock US spec handlebars for a non-"L" GS laying around collecting dust, I have a set of superbike bars on the 850G but I'm wanting to reinstall a Vetter Windjammer fairing, and the taller handlebar to go with it.

Thank you!

Random FYI, but the handlebars used by the shaft drive bikes changed over the years. The early 850/1000g bars were taller than the later. Reason being, the frame is different; seat rails are lower relative to the triple clamps, so the bars have less lift as well.

Not sure about when they changed but had 1000G in "80" and a couple of "80" 1100E's and they all had those awful, way too tall, bars like the earlier GS750 and GS1000 non "L" models had. I'd think those bars would be easy to find unless everybody just threw them away, as most folks around here pretty soon replaced the OEM with something way more comfy. Good luck with the search.

Do you need the windjammer fairing too? I have the bars, support structure, wiring, keyed windjammer & fairings that I took off of my 1980 GS850g that I've been meaning to get rid of.

Hi JDXC, I've got a color matched windjammer and mounting bracket/wiring etc. I ended up ordering a bar off of Dennis Kirk (nominally for a Honda hawk/Magna) with dimensions that *should* be very very close to a US market GS bar.

I'd be curious to hear, what were your impressions of the windjammer setup? I hear hot weather riding is not their forte. I've got my Bandit 1200 as my second bike, so this GS I was thinking of being the mellow vintage tourer (and colder weather machine).

I wish I could tell you more about the windjammer, but the only time I rode with it was when I first bought the bike. After that I took it off and kept it in my attic ever since (4 years).

Hope the new bars and set up work out!

Well, the Emgo bar that showed up from Dennis Kirk was a fair bit off in terms of dimensions relative to the specs in the online description (shorter and less pullback by an inch or so in both dimensions). JDXC I will send you a private message if you would entertain the thought of selling and shipping me just your stock bar minus all the Vetter kit.
