Quite a long journey getting to this point as far a Jennifer is concerned and relatively a short time waiting for those nine days to pass when you think about it.

So my much awaited parts made their way across the Atlantic and into my grubby paws, was hoping to have them last weekend, but my car's alternator decided it had done enough service over the last 23 years and seized solid on the way to work last Monday, leaving me to use Swambo's car for a few days while I tried to find a replacement.
I managed to collect my parcel last week, so this weekend was spent in the garage, herewith the long overdue update.

The most important item in the box was my seat to replace my old one which had been cut to lower it, God only knows why I did a dof thing like that, the GS1000G has arguably the most comfortable seat ever to adorn a motorcycle.
I will write it off to youth and stupidity, and a I am sure there was alcohol involved.
But all is well again.

As it arrived, dusty but in perfect condition, hooked it off ebay for $30 if I remember correctly.




Assembled and fitted to the bike, perfect.
Yesterday the weather was grim and it rained on and off all day, so no chance of painting the hinges and lock, so I just polished them up, I was not waiting any longer, I think I bought this seat 3 years ago.
Many thanks to Dale for the stunning paint on the pan, it shines more than my car does.




Another done and out of the way is the clocks, refurbished to as new condition and looking super sweet, again thanks to my super friend from Marysville, the man is a craftsman.
They took a heck of a knock on the last ride when I did my best Humpty Dumpty impersonation, and had to be replaced, Dale built the new ones up from bits and pieces, astounding.








Fitted and ready to start recording the miles.

Also got the wiring harness wrapped and looking like new and fitted




So far I have the neutral light and the gear position indicator lights as well as the brake light working, probably the ignition system too.
As soon as everything is working 100% I will secure it in place.

The GS came with either short stem indicators or long stem indicators, I have always fitted the short stem indicators to keep the profile nice and narrow, however, with the fairing, the front requires long stem units to clear the fairing, they also arrived in the box of bits and were fitted this weekend.


The last bit of work achieved was cleaning up and renewing the lettering on the switches, nothing like doing a rebuild and worn and faded lettering on the controls to spoil the whole effort.

This is how it works.......

I win the lottery, make you an offer you can't refuse, and Jennifer flies across an ocean to me. Think of all the time and work I will have passed over to have such a masterpiece! A simple plan, really, as everyone has their price.

Scott, if you look at the last picture Stan posted, that in it's self tells you how much hard worth he's put into Jennifer. Look at the detail he's put into bringing he back. If he's not ecstatic, I don't have a clue what would make him be.

No they are pieced together from the best parts of several different clusters with some paint and polish thrown in for good measure. I'd run them over NOS any day. Absolutely beautiful.

Thanks for the kind words guys, but this weekend I felt like nothing more than a new parts fitter, Dale has to take the credit for the craftsmanship that went into the parts fitted this weekend, just hung them on the frame.
You want something brought back to "as new" condition, just leave it at Dale's house for a year or two.
