A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hello folks, I have a 1980 GS 750 L and I purchased Dynojet intake performance stage 3 jet kit(bike bandit) and I am needing to know what size exhaust is recommended for this set up. I plan on using individual air filters and look to cafe racer this bike. Thank you in advance for your time.

You don't match the exhaust size to jet size. It goes the other way round. You fit the pods to the carbs and fit a 4:1 header set up and then you change the jet needles (usually start in the middle groove) and the mains and pilot jets to suit via plug chops.

Thank you for your reply, i just got this bike and some bad advice. Since I have the jets any possible suggestions on exhaust size on the 4 into 1?

Honestly, if you just got the bike make sure everything is running stock first that way you have a baseline to start from. And since you don't have your location in your profile, we won't know what part of the world you are in or what the weather is turning to be there. So, leave it with the stock airbox, clean the carbs, adjust the valves, check over the charging system and then start playing after you know everything runs very well.

Thanks, i'm in Columbus,Ohio GO BUCKS!!!!
That sounds like a plan. I will check in after a few days. I know the carbs need cleaned, I am looking forward to tearing into this a getting it ready for next spring. if i put drag handlebars on it do I need to change the length of the throttle and brake cables?

Possibly but I'm not certain. Just make sure you soak those carbs for 24 hours each and get the o-ring kit from cycleorings.com.

Greetings and Salutations!!

Hi Mr. Blaqjak3,

It's possible to reroute the cables to take up the extra length. But the best solution would be to get shorter cables. Let me share some GS lovin'. :D

I just stopped by to welcome you to the forum in my own, special way.

Thank You!

PS. what's a good site for cables?

Blaqjak3,

Blowerbike (Terry) is not far from you and I am sure more than willing to help. Really nice guy never meet in person but talked to him on the phone several times. Bought some nice parts at great prices from him.

Get a V&H header for a stage3 and a set K&N pods. The easy way to add power.

purchase st.3 jet kit/follow instructions 100%/enjoy the results!

FYI
if you are going to purchase a 30 dollar set of filters.... disregard my above comments and continue pulling your hair out as GS CV carbs will never be able to be tuned correctly without a st.3 kit and good filters when the air box is removed.

Do you copy and paste from notepad? :p

Typo?
2.5%?

No typo. About 25% over stock on a mid 70s to early 80s Japanese 4 cylinder motorcycle. Good header, open-air intake (pods or stacks) and the proper jetting. A good header will scavenge the exhaust gasses, increase compression and have a strong power band. If you can?t feel the HP increase then you should work on your jetting.
