A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Jetting confusion

I recently got an 82 GS1100EZ when I got it it had 4 into 1 exhaust and K&N pods. I want to put it back to stock with stock air box and pipes.
When I took the pods off they had restrictors in them. the po mut have not wanted to rejet is the only reason I can think of for the restrictors.
The Carbs have 107 main jets. But not knowing if they had been drilled I decided to order new main jets. I checked the chart and I must read it wrong
i thought it said 107.5 mains. Now that I have the new jets I checked the chart again and says 110 main jets for 1982 and 107.5 for 81& 83. the main jet size
is the only difference in the 3 years. So should I order 110 or use the 107.5 ?
Thanks

Even when re-jetting for performance, it's hard to tell the difference in one size, (107.5 to 110). For what you're doing, you will see absolutely no difference. Just my opinion from what I've seen myself. What kind of restrictors were in the pods? Welcome & congrats on the bike.

Like a big aluminum washer with a hole about half the size of the opening. I wanted to upload a picture but it failed.
I will just use the new 107.5 jets I am sure it will be fine. Just wanted to get another opinion
Thanks

How'd it run with the restrictors in the pods? sounds like a plan, makes it much easier to work on, but completely does away with the extra air flow the pods should allow.

I don't know how it ran with the restrictors. I have not had it running since I got. It had been sitting a long time and pretty much a basket case

Welcome to the site. If you look in our signatures, you'll see why rphillips and I think you've got a great bike.

It might have been easier to just get it running before making changes. Good luck, and looking forward to pictures.

Thanks for the welcome. When I got it the plane was to get it running first but the Carbs were such a mess I had to do something with them. I did take a compression test it was #150 #2 140 #3 135 #4 150
That's not too bad.I also got the valves adjusted and they were all in spec did not have to change any. It came with an extra engine it is black so I assume its an 83.
What is the trick to posting pictures on this site ? I have tried several times and always says upload failed.
This is my first chain drive GS I rode the old Suzuki 2 strokes in the 60s and in 80 I bought my first GS an 850G absolutely loved that bike. then an 1100gk. Ill quit rambling
Thanks for all the info on this site

Most of us use a photo hosting site, like Flickr or ImageShack. And link them here.

There is a way to upload photos, but only one per post. Unfortunately, I have no idea how that works.
