    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I bought a Vance and Hines Pipe off of eBay, cleaned it up and it is at the media blaster right now. I am going to have it finished by Jet Hot. I also got a set of nearly new stock cams (they spec out at new specs). I just finished a set of mikuni two-barrel carbs that I got on eBay as well. It looks at best I can tell that the old jets are 95's on cylinders 1 and 4 and 102's on 2 and 3.

Are these stock size? if so what should I buy to run the bike with the vance and hines pipe???

those are the stock sizes. 95 and 102.5 actually.

You might consider going up one size on the jets... But since it's JUST an exhasut, you should be ok. Why did you buy new carbs? and new cams?
 
I bought the used carbs for parts. They are actually in great shape and paid $40 for the pair. Just one for these run about $95 and the two in these carbs and ths slides are in better condition than the ones on the bike now. My cams are measuring out near the service limit so I want to replace them when I do the boring and new pistions. Got both for $100 including shipping. I'll try your advice and go up one jet size in the two carbs that I am rebuilding with parts from both sets. I have heard that there were some hotter cams made for this bikebut I suppose they whoever made them that they are probably unobtaniam these days :) . Do you know if that is true, and thank you for your answer.
 
Nerobro, what I meant to say is that one of the diaphram assemblies in these CV carbs cost about 90-95$ and many of the parts are not available anymore on parts fische. I have to got to start proof reading my threads before I hit the submit button. I see that you are a senior member. I bought this bike 5 years ago for $200. I had the transmission fixed (2nd gear) and rode it a bit, but spent more time on my cruiser and this bike was ridden by guests coming to the Oregon coast to visit. Two months ago I put it up for sale but had little interest, and in the process of cleaning it up and waiting for a buyer, I sort of fell in love with it again and since I will be retiring in 16 weeks, I have decided to go through it and bring it up to snuff and perhaps find a few HP for Track days and doing the twisties in the back country of the Oregon Coast. I am a project sort of guy so I am eager to see what I can do with this bike with a little help from folks such as you. I also want to surprise my son's who got me into riding, and have always wrote of this old Suzuki :)
 
I happen to have a set of those hot cams in my house. :-) Yoshimura made them. I've been tyring to contact them to get the full specs on them, as i just got the cams, nothing else.
 
Good for you Lucky Dog :) If I happen to hear anything on the specs I'll let you know. I have googled for any info on them and have come up with nothing so far. I know that one thread talks about these cams going into a guy named skreemer's bike perhaps you can get some info from them. I believe it is under performance mods and titled GS550ES.
