A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Sorry I will stop, I was looking for serious advise in the beginning. I guess I got a little sidetracked after a few of the "constructive" comments I got.

I will agree with that. I really just wanted to make something that was removable to see what it would be like to ride like that. Kinda a blast to the past.

Here's one nicely done on a Suzuki - it looks like you only need a screw driver to make it work:

Wha6's the screwdriver for? He's just grabbing the shifter. Everybody does that!

There never was a suicide shifter used on a motorcycle I know of; the term actually revers to a suicide clutch... This was a Harley thing... see the following:

https://www.sturgis.com/content/blog-home/entry/no-such-thing-as-a-suicide-shifter.html

Here is the suicide clutch in action... not sure if this could be done on a Suzuki since the clutch is on the right side of the bike and actuates with a horizontal arm affair. I think you had best stick with the nazi helmet and black outfit if you want to look cool... you do apes and a fishtail as well.

I don't know what the 'proper' term would be, but I have seen what was probably a "jockey shifter" with a squeeze handle on the top of it. You would squeeze the handle to disengage the clutch, just like most of us do, then move the lever forward to engage first gear. Gradually release the handle, ride off. When ready to shift, squeeze the handle, pull the lever back to engage second gear release the handle. Repeat as necessary.

It took most of the "suicide" out of the arrangement, as it allowed you to place your left foot on the ground, instead of holding the clutch in.

Starting from a stop with only one hand on the handlebars..... I suppose you could ride that slowly. But why would you want to?

I thought he might have adjusted the angle of the shifter - I thought it looked a little high at first, but it might just be the way his hand is covering it.
