Figured I might catalog my progress on this 1100 I found on craigslist. I'm always looking for motorcycles/parts and stuff for my friends and I in the area and happened upon this 1982 Suzuki GS1100 ad. Parts bike, no title $650, 47k miles, and runs. The bike looked just about 100% complete minus one side cover, previous owner had painted the tank an off orange color (didn't look badly done, just not my thing), and incredibly dusty. I'm pretty sure this bike has been off the road for 10+ years. Wheels were super corroded, frame had slight rust, but ran surprisingly well minus light miss it had. It had a few parts my friends bike needed so we talked the guy down to $500 and bought it. The original plan went from going half on it with my friend, to he can just buy the parts he needed, to "here just take the parts and I'll keep the rest. So after reading about the hassle it is to get a title in Illinois and thinking how everythings probably gonna have to come off this bike anyhow, I'm now in the process of getting a frame with a title.
I'm pretty sure I found one and I'll be posting any progress on it here. I've always loved these bikes and was originally planning on putting a few parts on my GS750T, but I'm now set on getting this 1100 back up and on the road. My 750t will remain stock (for now
) while I start putting it all together. Wish me luck.
On one note/disclaimer. I'm pretty much going for stock at the moment as I have a kid on the way and I will soon be broke lol. So I'll be trying to keep my project as economical as possible. Will get pictures I have up in the morning, getting late and my pc is slow as hell tonight. Thanks for reading!
