A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I had already mentioned this within the body of my 1st post about my new mount, (1982 GS850GL),.......but thought it prudent to give it further notice since time is probably running out at the news shelves.

Here are my comments on a mag to pick up if you can:

"............So here i was browsing a local Barns and Noble a few weeks ago,.....and picked up the July 2006 issue of "Mechanics Classic Motorcycle" magazine,.......highlighting "the best bikes from the 70's and 80's" as the cover states.

Lo and behold a GREAT article on the GS850's,.......and if you can find a copy still at a bookstore pick it up! I went back a couple days ago to pick up a backup copy and they were all gone!

I stopped by Barnes and Noble today and it appears the July issue has been off the shelf for about 2 weeks. You must have seen it just before they pulled it. I checked the magazines website and the September issue is already out. Could you verify the name of the article you are refering too. I might consider ordering a back issue if I was certain I was ordering the correct issue.

That Brit magazine(Classic Motorcycle Mechanics) has been discussed here before, and it's definitely worth checking out each month. The title of the article you're interested in is "Chainless Wonder: A Tale Of Two Eight-Fifties". I have a copy of the July issue, and will send it to you. PM your address and give me a couple of days to finish reading it.

Is there any chance I could get you or anyone with a copy of this article to photocopy and send it to me? I have been championing the GS850G since 1982 [when I got my first one] as perhaps the greatest road motorcycle of all time, and I managed to miss this magazine and its article. The only chance I get to see issues of this are at a newsstand in Indianapolis when I visit a friend over there. I'm in Dayton, Ohio -- 171 Folsom Drive, 45405. Bill Lloyd.
