A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I'am new to this Great site so I hope I am posting this in the right place, I am missing the lower left
motor mount bolt, and in looking at manual I can't determine what is suppost to go here? There is a
space further in on the case that seems like a nut goes in here, but then goes further in to the case after
the nut? I have a bit of oil sepage out of the case here and am not sure how this goes. Can anyone help me
with this? I hate oil leaks, Thanks

A pic is worth a thousand words here. Folks here treat the 78 1000 with an almost holy revere so one single pic would probably get you a straight answer. On my 750 I am running just the front and rear mounts with no lowers at all. The previous owner removed some case gaurds and apparently lost the bolts along with the threaded inserts and spacers that accompany them.

There is a bolt that goes there, not sure about the size, might be M12. (EDIT: it's M10x50) The "nut"that goes in that spaced is occasionally known as a "teardrop" nut. When you see one, it will be obvious why. If I were on my laptop, I would give you a link and a picture. I will add to this post in a bit.

EDIT: parts numbered 20, 22, 24 and 25, at the bottom of the picture.

Your case might possibly be cracked from someone using too long of a bolt at one time.

See posts 673 and 683 in my destinking Penelope thread. (it's in my signature)

Thanks for your reply's, I went out to take a picture to post and took a closer look at it and now see why its
leaking oil from there, there has been epoxy applied to a crack or hole in the case!! I apologize for not looking
closer before I posted this.... and now I can't seem to upload the pics.http://imgur.com/ot4rSUI

Upload them to imgur.com (make an account first) then post the bbcode/forum link. Resize them to 800x600 to be polite to those with slower internet connections and smaller monitors.

thanks Steve for the help, I think I will not use that bolt after I get the epoxy fixed!

Unfortunately both you and I are members of the same club. :(

There is a 10mm Bolt with washer and the nut is a tab nut that is teardrop shape that keeps it from spinning around The length of the bolt should not touch the back side of the case. if you need exact deminsions, there is one on right side also. Make sure the leak isn't the dyno cover gasket. If its not it may be coming from the inner part of case where someone used too long of a bolt.
