A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

on the 80GS1100E, I just lost lights and blinkers suddenly just before sunset. I was just going down the freeway and took the offramp and when the turn indicators (both) failed to respond I stopped to check and my headlight and taillight are out, too.

Sigh.

Where do start? Headlight bucket? Please let me know.
Thanks

Well, went back to the bike a little while later and everything is working

Then after a minute everything is dead again. I pull the fuse box cover off and it comes on again. All the fuses look like they were in place but I pushed on them and turned them. I'm thinking maybe ground but would ignition, horn and brake lights work if there was a ground problem with the fuse box? Hmmm. Need ideas please other than take the entire thing apart and replace all wires, LOL.

Hum, so just wiggling something on the fuse block seems to make it go on when it was off (and I suppose might make it go off when it was on). So that makes me think the problem is internal to the fuse block.

(80 doesn't have a connector on fuse block, or does it? or does it have wiring harness going right into the fuse block?)

Got it thanks. Will hit the auto parts store tomorrow to stock up on fuses and get some deoxit contact cleaner as I can't seem to find mine. I hope I can find that.

Always an experience. Maybe I'll also figure out why the cigarette lighter power socket has not worked since my ride home from the TomMLC rally :o

Yesterday, 08:29 PM chef1366 Replace the fuses and clean the contacts in the fuse block.

I would also recommend you go through the bucket if you have not yet and clean/check the main ground wire to the motor.
