For the record. If I happen to post a tip and someone else knows of something related that might also enhance a person's riding experience, I strongly encourage them to post it. And I would be pleased knowing it was my thread that that initiated the contribution.

Isn't it amassing how a guy cannot ever just post a tip of information for those who would like to have it without the nay sayers marching in and polluting it with opinions that revert it? This thread is about saving money and saving stock horns. No matter what your reason, restoration, money, whatever. This tip will help you resurrect your stock horns.

It was not intended to cloud and pollute your mind with a bunch of view points on how to do it differently. It was a tip on how to do just what it says in here the way I said it. If anyone has ideas of their own, they should start their own tip thread like "How to make your bike horn louder" or whatever but not pop into a thread designated to help those of us who would like to save our stock horns for whatever reason and post things to the contrary. It's a tip on a method that works for it's purpose. Not a discussion to debate what everyone should do.

I already had another legitimate tip thread deleted because of this and here is another one gone to the dogs. Sorry folks, I simply don't like it. This wasn't something that was put up for debate, it was a tip from Hoom on how to save your stock horns if you so desired.

I wont be posting anymore tips on how I've discovered to do things. I feel I am waisting my time sharing information that isn't wanted. Sorry again.

For anyone reading that would like to salvage their stock vintage horns, this tip may help you.

No offense meant in return to Steve or retrex. I like both you guys but this tip was on how to perform a specific task. Not alternatives to it. Those things belong in another thread. Not a task specific tip. That is what I am saying.

I really think you're reacting too strongly here. What you posted was fantastic information, and many people will find it helpful. However, it's certainly valid to offer some alternatives along with it. Your post should be archived, and perhaps this should be split into two topics. There's certainly no reason to stop posting useful information just because it might be supplemented with alternative ideas. Keep submitting what you come up with - somebody will always find it useful.

Was not having a good day, and those of you who know me by now know that it was not the norm for me. My apologies to all, something struck a wrong cord. I still feel the same way but in a public discussion area you cannot control the flow of conversation. I will not be posting anymore information in here however. I realize the issue I think? I post in all types of areas and expect discussion. But to me a tip thread on how to perform a specific task is just that. Alternatives to the task at hand belong in another thread and I stand by that. Your all welcome to your opinions of course as always but I assure you any further discussion on this matter will be a waist of your time on me. I realize now that I don't like to share information this way and will no longer do it.

Thanks for your understanding for those who have given it. This thread will remain because the tip for restoring and keeping your old vintage bike horns is valid so no need to have Frank delete it.

By the way, if you STILL want more when you press the horn button, Harbor Freight sells an air horn combo (with power relay) that goes on sale every other month or so for less than $15! Even if the things don't last more than a season or two it's a cheap way to be REALLY heard versus the loudest stock horn!

Steve, Don was right, I was being an a$$ here. I wanted to publicly apologize to you and thank you for your contribution to the thread. Not sure what I was doing that all about? I think I was just miffed about the baffle packing thread as it was happening at the same time.

Anyway, this tip works great if your looking to resurrect stock horns.

If you want more db then Steve's tip is good. I actually took his advice and looked around as my new ride has a wimpy horn that wont even blow at highway speeds and is also missing one horn so I figured I go the route you mentioned. I actually ended up spending twice as much but I really like the ones I am getting for my 1100.
