A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hello all, I have searched the forums and I believe this question may not have every been asked so here goes:

I have a 82 GS8650 that I have been modding over the last year. (Brembo MC, 4 into 1 Mac Header, Supertrapp Muffler, Avon tires, Bars, grips etc.....) Recently I blew a seal, and oil sprayed onto the head bolts, so I took it to the shop for a top-end job, since it was losing compression (I did a compression test) in one of the cylinders before this happened anyway. So in chatting with my mech, I ask about more performance since the engine was going to be opened anyway. So we started chatting about boring for bigger pistons. I did not want to go too big, and wanted to maintain dependability. So he recommended the Suzuki 1 over bore (1.0mm), and are planning to deck the head so it can sit closer to the piston at TDC. Now this is where the story gets interesting. (At least to me :) ) It took over a month to source the pistons. They could not be found in the US, Canada, Mexico, Mars, Saturn, and was eventually found in the Netherlands (or Neptune in so far as I am concerned. LOL) Anyway, we have the parts now(they are Suzuki New old stock), and today he tells me that he has a bet in the shop about how much HP the bike currently puts out on his dyno. So, then we started chatting about carbs. He believes that Keihin CR29's may work on the bike. I am not sure, as this is a setup I can't seem to find any info on in relation to my bike. So, I figured, "Let me ask the College Of GS Motorcycle Knowledge".. Does anyone here, have any experience or info on this type of setup?

Thanx in advance,

X

It would be far easier and cost less while flowing just about the same CFM, to substitute the stock 32CV carbs with some 34CV carbs.
At least that is what I would do.
Besides, where were you going to get the intake manifolds to work with those ports and those carbs?

"today he tells me that he has a bet in the shop about how much HP the bike currently puts out on his dyno. So, then we started chatting"

probably not only bet that he has going in his shop!

Just found out from Sudco that their is a CR29 for the 82 GS650. Order# 016-3033
