If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

long story short i have a set of freshly rebuilt cr31s with 40mm spigots and a 1980gs1000e with a stock motor. is it worth the effort to make them best friends or should i go directly to ebay with these suckers? on the one hand they're old school awesome. on the other in the process of rebuilding i discovered parts for these carbs are spendy. possibly too spendy to make it worth tuning.

i'm afraid i'm getting too close for comfort to the point of having more invested than they're worth based on what a new set costs. i've found cr31 kits available for the liters so i'd like to assume it's a legitimate combination but i have yet to find anyone running it. just searching around i've also found the consensus to be that these aren't great street carbs. if you are running cr31s and are reading this maybe you can help me out by at least giving me an idea of base jetting with a stock motor, 4-1 pipe, and pods.

thanks for any input.

That's probably a little too much carb for an otherwise stock engine.

You should be able to make 31s work. What do you mean by 40mm spigots though? You can call me at 714--356-7845 if you want as it is a LOT easier to help with something like this over the phone. Ray.

sorry for the confusion. i was referring to the o.d. of the carb adapters. just meant to establish they'll actually fit in the intake boots. thanks, ray. i'll give you a call asap.

As Ray has said, you should be able to make them work on a 1000.

If you do decide to sell, please offer them here as there's a demand from the Vintage racers for these carbs.

These are 33's. Apparently, they can fit.

As for being a wise choice for a stock engine, doubtful.
A waste of good carbs. 29 smooth-bores are a much better choice.

I am going to be using the 33's on a bumped-up 1100E (1197cc) 4-valve engine.

talked to ray. forgot the intake boots are 42mm inner diameter with the cv carbs. they will fit but pretty loose. not an insurmountable problem. might just be able to find a set of 78-79 boots. the biggest issue i've figured out with fitment is the length more than the width of the carb adapters. they're 46mm long which has the carb bodies pushing on the petcock. it's a pingel so it hangs lower than stock. might try swapping to a stock or an inline petcock. or thinking about modifying the adapters to fit. and sudco finally called me back so i have some jetting guidelines now. i've established i can do it but as 7891 points out is it a wise choice? i've been keeping an eye out for an 1100 top end swap but i don't see it happening any time soon. i was going to ebay these things but as greg points out it seems a much nicer guy thing to do i'll offer them here for what i've got in them if i decide not to run them
