A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I thought all of our bikes were already old-school. I guess it's all perspective!

Can't wait to see what you do with it.

What's your thought on the wheels and tires?

Keep em the same?
Red wheels with gangster white walls?
Flat black with knobby tires?

Stock for now. I'd like wire wheels and white wall Firestone tires

The handlebars look dumb & will make the bike hard to ride. Not to mention hard on your shoulders. Silly Fad. Whatever, like they say, "theres just no accountin for taste". Heck, take the shocks off too:lol: And put a springed bicycle seat on it LOL

It's only 12" bars and I'm 6'4. The bars fit normal to me. Who said there is no accounting for taste? I don't hate on your bike.

lookin good, Bro ! That thing looks like it's gonna be alot of fun !

I am a fair weather rider...LOL, currently between GS's...no LOL.

Tell us about the gas tank! Where did you get it and how tough was it to mount up? Looks good on there...

I not a hater.

The "no accountin for taste" is an age old addage & is true. True also is my statement about the bars. I see the adolesant look you're going for & hey, its your bike. I don't hate it. You can rattle can paint it matte black I don't care.
When you post pics of your bike or project you invite comments good & bad. Would you really want only good comments and pats on the back? We could all lie to you I guess. Nope. I not a liar either. Hey neighbor, enjoy it and ride the **** out of it.

I feel ya. I don't care if people like it or people hate. I like it. I built it. I just didn't like how you worded your comment. Sounded more like you where hating on me and my taste in motorcycles. Not my bike. Hate on the bike. Not on me. We all are here for the same reason because we love these bikes. But its all good, I ain't mad at ya lol and that "adolescent look" has been around for half a decade.

Got the tank off eBay. Had to relocate the petcock from the bottom of the tank to the side. Had to grind off the stock gas tank mount tabs off the frame. The tank lays flat on the frame. Then just fab'd up some mounting brackets. It was pretty easy to do

Looks good man. I'm a fellow 81 750L owner. They are super fun bikes. I'd like to see what you did where the cluster/gauges were. Post a close up?

Thank you! I'll post a pic later today

All I did was remove the speedo and tach. Took the gauge cluster apart. Cut and taped the wires. Then put the access wires in the head light.
