If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

KZ wheel on my GS?

I am searching for a 3.50x18 WM6 rim for the rear of my GS750 with a GS1100E box aluminum swingarm. I know to swap those swingarms onto a Kawasaki KZ1000 (and other sizes), it almost directly bolts in with the addition of two washers on the inside of the frame. Never heard any problems of the KZ wheels fitting into the GS1100E swing arm at all.

Well I am looking at a used "KZ/GS wheel" with a 40 spoke Excel 3.50x18 rim. I assume since my GS is 36 and this one is a 40, that it is a KZ wheel. What issues would I run into using this wheel? Do I need a KZ sprocket and disc rotor, or will the GS stuff bolt straight on? Will my brake/caliper spacing be the same? Chain like the exact same?

I am having trouble finding a used 3.50x18 rim ($260 new!!!!), and the ones that have turned up are all 40 spoke. This one has had the rim drilled to screw on a drag slick. I don't know if that will hurt it at all, or if I should chance trying to plug weld the holes shut and grind them smooth.

My project bike came with Kawasaki cast wheels on it, so it's doable

You need the sprocket carrier for that hub, the disc and maybe different bearings if the Kaw axle size is different (or reducing bushings)

The caliper - maybe yes, maybe no- it's all in the offset of the sprocket carrier

Does anyone else have any input on this? I would really like to know if the GS sprocket and rotor will bolt up all the same, if the offsets are the same on the rotor and sprocket, and if the rotor diameter is the same.

I'm having a lot of trouble finding 36 hole 3.5 wide rims in 18" but 40 hole rims seem to be available used frequently, which is what most Kawasaki's and older Harley Davidsons use. I found a deal on a Kawasaki hub and drive assembly with an Excel 3.5"x18" already laced in it, but it is not local so I don't have a good way to compare it to a GS rear disc wheel
