DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey all,

I hate to start a new thread for this...but I did a search and wasn't able to come up with anything concrete.

Anyway, here it goes:

'82 650GL

The other day, I replaced the front blinker units with some sporty new ones. They look good and worked OK at first but yesterday while riding, I lost my headlight, tail light and both front blinker lights. The rear blinker lights will light up but will not flash. The brake light works as does the neutral light and the blinker indicator (though it just stays on as do the blinkers themselves) and the ignition is fine--meaning, the bike will start and run like a dream (:-)).

Now, the right blinkers (front and back) have always been a bit sporadic in their functionality. Sometimes they blink and other times, they just come on and stay on. I'm not sure if this is related to my more pressing matters noted above or not....

Knock on wood but I've never had any stator/charging issues.

I'm sure that I'll be able to track it down eventually but I thought I'd drop the question here and see what the experts might have to say. :D

Thanks in advace.

You more than likely disconnected a wire while in the headlamp housing.
have a look see.

If your connection are clean, most likely it's a bad flasher

Possibly disconnected wire grounded out and blew a fuse. Though I think you would have to blow more than one to do all that. The blinkers stay on if one is out on that side. Are the lamps in the turn signals drawing the same power as the originals? This is as much speculation as I can make. Check the charging system because when mine was failing I had almost the exact same problem with the headlight, tail light and turn signals.

Yeah, I meant to say that all the fuses are fine and I had a gander inside the headlight bucket and found nothing amiss. :-?

Also, for a brief bit this morning, the headlight did come on...but didn't come back after I shut the bike down....

I hate electical issues, darn it all!

push each connector together and twist it a little.
looking at it won't do.
15-20 minutes tops and you done.
