A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Feeler,
That thing looks fabulous! Looking forward to seeing this one complete. I like the black engine, great job.

Looks like you bead blasted the carbs. How are you treating the steel parts to keep them from rusting?

excellence... did you do use a clearcoat or anything to protect those carbs from oxidizing?

Also, what paint did you use on the frame?

I'm down in Louisiana so there's not much cold weather like up North, the owner will only take it out in sunny weather so oxidizing should'nt be an issue, I did the same with my GS1000 and all I did was spray some WD40 on them and that was 3 years ago and they still look great.
Frame not painted, powdercoated a light gray.

Great work, looks fantastic!
The black engine with polished cases/carbs looks very sharp, more visually interesting (IMHO) than a completely blacked out or completely silver '82 one. Gonna throw some K&N pods & a sweet 4x1 pipe on it, or keep it completely stock?

Tony.

Standard airbox is going back on, I got exhaust (Vance & Hines) heat resistant black powdercoat but he didn't like it, so he's going for a chrome 4-1 instead.

Just had to mention this!! I saw an old friend this evening who has a late 90's GS1100 (like the Katana) I asked him where it is? he advised "that piece of crap! "come pick it up for free!!!!!!!"
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! there's the next project!!!!!

Feeler,

Great Job!!! No one has a clue how much time can be spent on these especially if you do all the nust and bolts. Looks Awesome. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Wow!. I have to be honest when I first viewed your frame color I was uncertain, but Damn! that thing looks killer! some blue rizoma grips would look really cool on it maybe? Anyway super job!!!

Anxious to see it with the pipes back on. Very cool looking bike. The frame and clip ons are a nice contrast to the body color.

Hey Buddy,
it's coming along sooooo nice now. Fantastic looking bike, great detail and it'll be a crowd puller for sure!

Harris it all the way! Being a "former" brit ;), you know how good these pipes are. Over there, not the easiest of things to get hold of but very cool, icy cool!
Road or Race baffle? My 1000 has a race one, you know what sound these make already, mmmmmmmmmmmm

Well done:D

I hope you get the Marving....I understand they make a premium system. I've often looked at them at Exactrep, but have never seen one fitted on a bike, or even read a buyer's review, so hopefully, you can fill us in....woop woop indeed!

Tony.

The exhaust is not my decision, it's his money, Harris if it was my $$$ but that Marving sure looks nice though!
Should get some more pix up early next week guys...
