Lettering, need your input and thoughts

I am trying to decide on the lettering for the Suzuki project. The lettering will be stenciled into the base coat of the paint. Then the tank will get its top coat, and clear.

The color of the bike will be a deep red with black metal flake, the stripe and lettering will be in metalic gun metal grey.

So the problem I am having is getting my scripting down for the tank.

I had a couple thoughts on what I wanted to do. The first is the Suzuki S in a font called Zook. The entire word in this font is just way to ugly. The "uzuki" is a chop off of Suzuki's web site. There is no known font that matches the Suzuki block letters. You can really see the difference in the K, this was done for copywrite issues.

The second is Suzuki in Katakana. Suzuki never used Katakana on there bikes nor on there building. But on corprate leters, and internal stuff the word Suzuki is written in Katakana and not Kanji. I thought of this, just for keeping with the Japanese theme on the bike. Sad thing is this screems poser bike in some motorcycle groups.

Please post any thoughts, or own designs :D I am open to suggestion. I also thought about putting the bike's name in there some where, but not thinking it will work. Her official name is Mikura.

Firstly, I can't imagine what those colours will look like...

However, could you just drop the word and have just the S logo there?

That would be simple yet classy I feel... no idea if that fits with the look you want or not though...

i would replicate the font from the original tank badge, google a pic of it, print it out and make it into a stencil. also i would do the lettering in a brighter colour, unless your going for the subtle stealth look

it is really hard to post color samples, due to everyones monitors being different.

I did think of just doing the "S" in deep red with black metal flake on a pearl white circle with a plack outline around the circle. But then of course I would leave off the "GS 750."

The top rendering is the Suzuki badge scanned with the "S" replaced. It might be a little off due to me stretching and resizing to how I wanted it.

Stripe and lettering color

Main color there will be a black metal flake over this. (not the stripe or lettering)

Aaaah ok, now I can imagine it. By the description, I couldn't match the red and black metal flake together, but I now see what you mean.

That should make the lettering stand out in an opposite contrast way which should look good.

I'm still sticking with my S suggestion though :)

I have always thought that putting a giant letter S on a race car would be great.

Even if it just went at a snail's pace, everyone would say

" Look at that S car go!"

I agree, although it could be because it is what I have become accustom to.

How about a Suzuki "S" PN 68111-18G20 retails for $24.78 through your Suzuki dealer. If you want a bigger "S" than a Grand Vitara has one on the rear.

If you really want the Suzuki in block lettering, I have that image already vectored in my sign/decal files. I do this kinda work on the side and have just about everything Zuki ever released. Lemme know and I can send it to ya. And if you want just a Suzuki "S", lemme know. I can cut them any size for way cheaper than the stealership can sell them.

That's just gold... :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Ok so here is the Suzuki "S." Photoshop can not duplicate the color that I wish to paint the bike so you will have to use some imagination.

But this is basically what would be painted on the tank, along with the racing stripe. Then I would turn it over to a pinstripper for finishing touches.

I have several of these vintage water transfer decals. I may use them somehow when I repaint.

I have an S like that. Have also seen them around on other bikes so I'm guessing Suzuki had a S decal at some stage

I like the 'S'.. I have also seen some chrome ones too, like on the suzuki cars and trucks, but thats more my tastes I think.
