Lowering an '82 GS450L

I just picked up a 1982 GS450L for a friend of our's (female). She can't touch. I have lowered many bikes in the past (my wife is 4'11" and rides dirt and street). I know I can shave the seat, modify the seat pan, raise the forks in the triple clamps (tree), but is there a method or blocks to lower the rear shocks.

I am really looking for someone who might have already done this, so I don't have to re-create the wheel thanks!

I have to share this - one owner, immaculate, 16K miles, even came with original owners manual and clymer also.

I know...not a normal first post, huh?

You can move the mounting points for the shocks to lower the rear or pick up some shorter shocks. You have to be sure the wheel won't contact the fender by going too far.

I actually have a set of shocks from an old XS1100 that I am going to throw on to check the height. The spring rate will be way too stiff, but at least I can see if she can touch after the other lowering has been done. I haven't measured, but they look 1" shorter and they will fit. If I need more info, I'll be back. If I can help with any 'other' bikes.......I have had MORE than my fair share. Thanks again, these forums are priceless for all of us!
