I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Is anybody familiar with the Mac 4 into 2 chrome turnout exhaust system for 78-80 GS1000s?

says on their website ( http://shop.macperformance.com/MAC-...4-into-2-Chrome-Turn-Out-Exhaust-003-0508.htm ) that the system fits a 1980 GS1000G, but does not list that it fits an 81 GS1000G (which I have). Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the 80 and 81 GS1000G are the same with respect to anything related to the exhaust (mounts, centre stand etc). They have either incorrectly listed that the pipes will fit a 1980 GS1000G (when they actually will not), or incorrectly omitted that they do fit an 81 GS1000G. The pipes either fit both years or neither year. Thoughts?

I'm hoping someone out there has purchased this exhaust system and knows something about it.

I have this system in storage which I just took off my 79 GS 1000. I got lucky and scored a stock exhaust and now have this mac unit in a storage unit.

Let me know if I can be of any help to you.

I just PMd you.

Just a note here. I put a set of Mac slip ons on my 850. I used original headers which are double walled, cut the pipes off and had some sleeves welded on to accept the slip ons. If the Mac headers are single walled, in order to avoid discoloration you might want to look into having the insides of the headers ceramic coated before installation.

Thanks for the tip. I'm quite sure the Macs are single walled because they have a disclaimer that discoloration is normal. The Mac slip ons that you used . . . were they specific for the bike or universal? In other words, were the exhaust mounts correct and did they just bolt on? Were the sleeves you welded on the only modification you needed to make?

Thanks.

Do you have a picture of your bike with the Mac 4-2 system mounted on it? That would be a greatly appreciated. I see the system does not sweep up, did you ever scrape the tips when you were two-up or heavily loaded? Do the point down when two people are sitting on the bike?

Thanks.

You can find pics of the exhaust on my bike, just go to my profile page and click on albums.
I've never scraped the tips or had it heavily loaded and no they do not point down when two people are sitting on the bike..

Hope this helps you. I also answered your PM.
