If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Mac Exhaust

Purchased!

I'm excited to see this exhaust.

It does look higher quality than the mac, and not much more money.

None of my friends here in the PNW have a Marshall, that I've seen, anyway.

Since the bike frame is actually a 550, and the top end of the engine is a 650, I ordered the 650 setup. I will probably have to fab mounts, but not an issue.

Will keep you updated.

PM when you get it, I can help with installation tips. There are some tricks to getting it on right.

I would recommend going up on the jet two sizes to 115 or 116. the bikes are jetted lean for emissions and with the pipe it will be leaner. I went to DJ 124 which is about a 116 in Suzuki and had no flat spots and it pulls right up to redline.

I will have to fab mounts anyway. It's going on a 550 frame.

Since intake is not stock, either, lots of jetting changes will be required. :)

At some point, I may try to fit EFI to it.. but thats for later.

Where did you get the Marshall from?

It looks like the muffler mounts low, like the OE, instead of upswept like my V&H 4-1. Might be just what I'm looking for to clear the bags :D

Yes - GS850G

In the interest of budget, might just get a muffler. I wrote to them with the inquiry.

I'll let you know!

I purchased a MAC 2 into 1 for my '81 450T. I've had it for a year now and the the header started to rust within 6 months. I don't care for the "tinny" sound they make, but others have said they think it sounds good.

If I were to do it over again I would have painted it before I installed it. I purchased a DEI wrap kit for the header. I am going to sand and paint it with Rust-oleum High heat then wrap. I am also planning to replace the silencer with a Supertrapp racing series so I can tune the sound.

The system cost around $300. I would have rather found a used header; coated it, and then purchased a silencer. Overall I don't think they're worth it.

I put a MAC on a CM400A and the FIRST ride I took the paint fell off the header and in a week it started to rust. 20 miles and that's it. Terrible sounding, I had to stuff fiberglass inside to pass the noise test for registration. The baffle is removeable and it rattled a lot. I had to rig it with wire on the inside to stop rattles.

I approached MAC about getting a new header and got the run around. After a few weeks I gave up. Sold the bike eventually. I repainted the tube with BBQ paint.

If they were 100 bucks they would be priced about right. But they are chinese made (that's what the unhelpful lady from MAC told me on the phone) and vary in assembly quality. If you compare three headers you will see major differences in alignment, weld quality, and bends.

The JAMA is a work of art. Worth every penny.

Thanks to all for their inputs. Looks like it'll be the Marshall.

Now to pray for a sizable income tax refund!
