A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

eveything is dirty and oily...Like if all the bike was sprayed with WD-40.

You probably have a oil leak coming off the valve cover or something else in that area and is being blown back against the carbs. Looks like a bad leak if they are that soaked. So check all that. If the carbs were that hard to remove, the boots are more then likely hard as rocks. Get all new rubber boots front and back for the carbs, Order the clamps as well. Z1 has a good selection of SS brake lines and components you'll need. Lines, banjo connections and copper crush washers. Think I paid around $180 for my sets.

If you're wanting stainless steel brake lines this is the guy to go to

http://www.rennsportautoparts.com/

Raymond Chan, great guy to deal with. If you don't see what you need on his site just give him a call and he'll custom make it for no extra charge. Did my entire bike, front and back for $104 Canadian delivered to my door in BC 4 days after I ordered them!

After going through a first clean with gunk, found the breather cover was broken and repaired with jeld weld. Ordered part yesterday from dealer, 28$ with gasket. Was leaking there and also from the tach sleeve. The sleeve is cracked and also there was no oil seal there. Was leaking pretty badly. All parts ordered and should be home by wednesday.

Yes the rubber boots are hard. It was a pain to remove the carbs because they did not flex at all. 180$ for front and rear?

O-Rings ordered from cycleorings, new intake boots arrived, carbs are soaking...

Any place where you can find new ss bolts kits to replace those silly philips screws for carbs? Almost broke 2...

thanks

Tank received today from Joe Nardy. Great packaging, fast shipping, great price and item as described! Great shape. Lot of work for the week-end with all those parts coming. Pictures to follow.

Cam Chain Tensioner

Cam Chain Tensioner

While I'm having room to do it, is it worth it to take apart the chain tensioner? Is this something that would need to be changed and maybe install a manual one?

valves

valves

Working on the valves tonight. Since the cover was leaking, I will also change the seal and the tach sleeve. Broke on me while trying to pry it out.
