Whats your rpm @60 mph with the 41 tooth sprocket? I hear that adding/subtracting a tooth on the countershaft=4teeth on the back sprocket.

i also run one tooth over on the primary sprocket. Load on the engine or countershaft--well maybe i just cant see it--- i know a smaller sprocket makes the chain work a little more- I loved the smaller sprocket but in my opinion, the larger countershaft or the smaller rear is a nice mod for the 110/11150cc bikes Shafties?????? LOL LOLretrex said:Years ago I also thought that my 81 GS11 was geared a tad to short. I talked to my dealer and they suggested that I drop a tooth or two on the rear spocket rather than the primary. Their explaination was that the increased load that droping a tooth on the primary caused would put too much of a load to the engine and be detrimental to engine longevity. I have lived with a 41 rear tooth for 24 years. On the highway I dial into a nice vibration free range and I don't feel the engine is spinning too much. 8)

The carbs have been thoroughly cleaned and the bike is jetted for a V&H 4-1 and pods but when it was all stock it got about the same mileage. That is 100% around town, with a couple of minute warmup before riding it to class or around town.
