I can tell you that Fahsmos is 100% telling the truth about his experience with RapidRay. I have know this man for over twenty years and I can vouch for what he has said. I do know about this 'deal' that he struck with Ray, from day one. We are putting together an '85 GS1150 for Fahsmos and we need this cylinder bad. I know about the e-mails, PM's and phone calls and attemped phone calls and the messages. I know about it all. And it happened exactly the way Fahsmos has said it did. I also know about the two PM's I sent to Ray myself trying to persuade hime to do the 'right thing' and send Fahsmos his cylinder he paid him for. ...no response. I also can say that I have done business with Katman and found him to be up front and an honest man. I build GS engines too and I can say that those cams wouldn't go in any GS engine I build. The detail about the cams should have been reported to Katman before the deal was struck. JMHO. This really shouldn't be difficult...just do what you agree to. If you say you'll send something..send it. And be honest about the condition of the parts you are selling. Just play it straight..folks in 'aint hard.

Yes I have the cancelled check but my phone only holds messages for 14 days. I try to live my life on the premise of WWJD, so I chose to try and let his conscience do the work with hopes of a happy ending. I then saw what Katman was going through and decided to speak up. It is probably best to let this post die here and possibly have him posted on Deadbeats.

Damn. It's hard enough working on old bikes and finding parts without dealing with BS like this. What a shame. Deadbeat isn't half of it.

Dang, is this the end of Ray on this site? Starting to look like it. I see he is still posting on dragbike.com.

Waited two months and with many ignored PMs and Voicemails I threatened to expose him on this site. I finally got a call and he said he sent it and it was probably stolen off my porch. (Yeah right) He said he would send another one. Finally got one from an 1100. I asked him why the 1100 hub and not the 1150 now he changed his story saying the 1100 hubs are better. Whatever, at that point I was glad to get anything. The hub was notched out really bad where the fiber tangs touch. I just dremmeled it out and put it on. Well to say the least he did not get my business for the head. I had a guy build me one in Los Angeles for $550 which was ported, polished with 1.5 oversized SS intake valves. He is a buddy and builder for Kris V (Dragracer) who is my friend and a member on here.
Sorry to see you had a time with him and if I would of known I would of warned you. I have warned a few others when I saw they were going to do business with him.
Sorry it went down like that
Bill

This is a PM I sent to Katman. He suggested I post it up to prevent others from having the same problems. Plus he felt he was taking some of the blame for this. I was going to stay out of it because I did eventually get a part.
Ray has helped me through some times with his technical know how but dealing with him on a business sense was not good.
OK, anybody else out there that wants to throw me under the bus?! Bill, you are a liar,or have a POOR memory! It took a month from the time you paid me to get the SECOND hub I sent you! I got paid by UPS because I insured them both. Second, NONE of the inner hubs come with thread inserts in the spring bolt holes! I don't know WHERE you came up with that. Also, there was next to NO notching on that inner hub so that is a crock also. When I called you to make SURE you had gotten it you told me you were already putting it on & there were NO problems! Make up your mind or remember the details in your stories. Glenn Fahs will post about the cylinder I sent him. I sent the cylinder out the first time about 2 weeks after getting payment. I got it back from UPS with 3 unaccepted delivery attempts. I told him I had gotten it back when he called & I sent it again the next day. It came back again with REFUSED delivery. At this point I waited to hear from him as I had paid for shipping twice already. I should have called him,I did'nt.I did'nt know what to think about it being refused. If I had it to do over I would do it differently. He has my # now & will have the block on Fri. I had a lot of family & work issues at the end of last year but NO ONE got ripped off or JUNK parts. Katman will get his money also. Ray.

It is always a good idea to post publically when accusations fly so the other side has a chance to rebut. Otherwise its only gossip .... Its only fair....Then everyone can make their OWN informed decisions...

What's your side of Fahsmos story?

Metel insterts? Like they were stripped and coiled? Ray makes mistakes like I'm sure 99.999999999999% (couldn't include Christ in that) of us do. Seems like that ones a little far out there. Should have taken pictures of the hub before you filed the part. I have seen some pretty beat up crap for sale that people have tried to pass on as good parts.

Taking some of the blame? He was the one who started this thred. He asked for peoples input. I guess I don't see the problem. Sounds like Ray has had a few problems is all. Wonder if there are any positive stories to be told on dealings with him?

Am I the only one who sees a pattern here? I wondered who was buying from the 90 percenters on ebay?

I don't know if three samples is a good statistical pool. That's why I wondered if there were any positive stories. Normally people only post the bad in these bashing sessions.

What the hell is that supposed to mean? I don't even sell on Ebay! Ray.

The quote was for Lecroy not you Ray. Simply put, if an ebay seller (Not you)had similar disputes on his record I wouldn't take the chance. Lecroy might.. based on the quote quoted. Thats all.

Lecroy, You are right. Three situations aren't a very good pool.

I've read enough of this thread to decide what I would do ... and I'm a eBay buyer and seller...

In this deal, I would refund the orginal selling price as soon as the cams came back to me in the condition that I mailed them in.

Because concern was expressed about them fitting at the point of purchase and they really didn't fit 100%. Then that is enough for me to simply say "Oops, they worked in my bike, sorry it didn't work for you ~ here's your refund".

And because he's only asking for the orginal price and not a refund on shipping, that's good enough for me.

... there's my 2 cents.

LOL, you have me on that one! I do look at feedback and consider the ratio. I try to hunt down the comments. I think eBay did us a big dis-service when they stopped keeping the old data and never allowed me to just look for the bad feedback on a member.

I have posted it before on this site and will post it once more, of all of the things I have sold on eBay, motorcycle parts have caused me the most pain. "I lost my job" "I sent the payment", etc. When I sell bike parts, I get people who can't seem to read.

For myself, I am at 98% and proud of my battle scars on eBay. So much so that the real good ones I post for people to read all the emails and make their own call. Knowing I have been blasted for blasting non paying dead beats and people who don't ship, I am sure others have as well and try to consider this when buying from anyone.

If Ray did sell on eBay, I would consider this as part of his feedback. If he had 3000 positives, this thred would be in the noise and I would risk buying from him.

I don't know either party, and have never had the opportunity to trade with either of them online - I have no stake in this, nor is it my place to take sides.

But I have to agree with TurboChris - what necessitated that this issue be debated in this public forum? A lot of damage can be done to the reputation of either party in a situation like this. While we may not all be online "retailers", everyone involved in resurrecting, restoring, customizing, or merely prolonging the service life of old UJM's ends up trading online eventually. Misunderstandings happen, and it's always best to sort things like this out in person, either by PM, email, or (Bob forbid!), even by the old telephone.

I'm glad you guys have worked this out - I'm just of the opinion that the resolution was offered solely for the sake of protecting one's online reputation instead of through a true bi-lateral understanding of each party's concerns...

Pity, if so. I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

thats classic coming from the guy who left me hanging on a rear wheel purchase

Well, now I have to respond..

I talked to Ray privately.... I talked to Ray on the phone the day after I got the cams.

As for your #3.
(read all my posts) I don't consider it slander when I believe I should get a refund and don't. I talked to him on the phone and by email After months past I emailed him again. Told him I would be posting to get others oppinions on if I should get a refund. also, being new here you may not know but, I have been buying/selling stuff here for 5 yrs now and never have I posted a dispute before. INcluding the two times I was screwed over and ate my fill of parts costs, so you don't have tooooo much to fear. Besides.......what is a GS owner doing fearing anything anyway???

Slander???? come on... Its a dispute that we could not agree on between ourselves. Again..read the posts.

Where did the check the shipping dates comment come from?? I appreciate you are Rays new best friend of 3 weeks but you are behind a little on current events. There were numerous emails and phone calls before parts were shipped. Ray appologized for the delay in shipping at the time which I accepted. That is not in dispute and has nothing to do with the posting anyway.(read the posts)

I never questioned his knowledge and still don't. Which again... has nothing to do with this posting. IF you are saying blindly follow his suggestions because he is infallible and incapable of error?? than you are in error.

I only asked him to respect my oppinion as a fellow GS'r and refund my purchase because ... (read the posts).

Ray has said he would refund my purchase many posts ago so, lets end this discussion.
