So I know that the way the 1983 GS650 shaft drive tranny works is that it puts power directly to the shaft in 5th, but I feel like 5th is so small and that when I push my little GS up to 6,000 rpm that she does not love it as much as 5 or 5.5. So I am wondering if I can do some conversion to get it to cruise at high speed without sounding like I am hammering it. I know you can take her beyond that, but vibrations get killer if you want to hold 85 on the highway... you know?
Also any simple and cheap conversions to get more pep are welcome.
Lastly, I had the bike on the trailer and had the shocks almost completely compressed, and I don't think the bike has ever looked more bad ass. Anyone know of shocks that will fit and shorten the front end, or of any lowering kits?
Thanks.
